    June 6th 2022 Update:

At this time, we will be completing April and early May birthdays in the summer behind the wheel program, for students to receive their permit.             ( the summer btw schedule will be finalized by 6/15 )

Students who turn 16 in late May, June, July, and August will be taking simulator in September if they have not done so already, along with behind the wheel in September or October.

Students who did not get simulator this school year will be simulated first thing in September.

     January 3, 2022

We are going to try and get all sophmores simulator this school year.  We are very behind due to covid setbacks.

If your student is a sophomore and turns 16 before April they will most likely get BTW & their permit by the end of the school year (summer included). If they turn 16 April or early May they will be assigned summer BTW upon district approval. If students turns 16  in late May, June or this summer ( 2022 ) they will be completed in September or October

If they have not passed the written permit test, I cannot get them their permit until they do.

I cannot buy permits for 17 year olds, only 16 year olds.
Students are scheduled for BTW on their G-Mail Calendar when I get their Permits back from MVC.

    Simulator Schedule: Simulator Schedule
*Note: Some younger students may get simulator before some older student, because some lunch periods have less students that are 16, but It catches up on the following unit.

Share the Keys Program for parents and students.
This is an interactive program design to help transition your teenager from the 16 year old permit through the Graduated Drivers License steps to their Basic License.
    Date October 20, 2021
    Time: 6:60 - 8:00
Location: Either the Nottingham High School Auditorium or a Virtual Meeting: Details to follow. Check back soon.

Currently, only students who have completed simulator this past spring will be scheduled for summer BTW. In September we will resume simulator and BTW.

    UPDATED: Thursday, May 27, 2021
Behind the Wheel has been approved.  If you do not have your permit, PASSED your written/knowledge test, and are 16 years old or are turning 16 before 9/30/21; please fill out the 10th grade SIM/BTW sign up Google Form ( see below ) to be scheduled.
Simulator is fully booked at this time. We will resume Simulator in September of the 21-22 school year. Behind the wheel will be running all summer. Keep in mind you must complete Simulator to be scheduled for Behind the Wheel.

    UPDATED: Friday, May 7, 2021
We started our first simulator unit 2 weeks ago because it was approved by the board.
We have behind the wheel on the board meeting agenda for May to begin for summer 2021. Let's pray for approval.
The only way to get your permit through school is to pass the written test, pass simulator, and complete behind the wheel.
If you are going to a private driving school you will need your blue card with your written test score on it. Email me and we can arrange a time to get it.
If you are already 17 years old you must purchase your permit at MVC. I can only purchase it for 16 year olds.
Students still may take simulator & behind the wheel for the first time by special request, even if they already have their permit from an outside private driving school.
Students will be emailed when its their turn to be scheduled for sim or btw.
Students will get ther birth certificate & social security card back on their first day of behind the wheel.
Students will get their permit on their last day of btw.

    Hope you are all well.

NJ MVC will be opening up this month. The first phase starts on June 15th. Attached is a letter from MVC that explains how and when the agency will open.
We only know what is in the letter. If we get more information we will pass it on to you.

Teachers have asked us when students who had Driver Ed Theory can take the Knowledge Exam. As of now, all schools are closed until the end of June. It is up to the individual school to set a policy as to when they will meet with their students for them to take the exam. The exam must be given in school face to face. Exams are not to be removed from the school building.

Thanks to Dr Ed. Committee member Nancy Lustenberger for information about driving schools.  As of this writing, Behind the Wheel Training is still not permitted due to social distancing. When driving schools do open, we will have to follow guidelines to keep students and instructors safe.
