Welcome back everyone to our brand new, 2023-2024, school year!   Also, Mrs. Mollie Steimle and Mrs. Kowalcec will be with us again this year to assist with our class.  

This is my 10th year in the district and every year has been exciting and rewarding, including our pandemic years.  Previously, I was an in-class support teacher and LLD self-contained teacher for many years at Reynolds.  In addition, I am a co-supervisor of our school's newspaper club and our newly created culinary club for this year.  
We will study the following main subjects in school this year
ELA - working and improving upon the spelling of grade level appropriate vocabulary lists, improving our reading comprehension skills, decoding and matching phonemes (speech sounds) to the correct corresponding letters, and typing/writing short essay entries, respectively.
Math - regroupoing addition and subtraction, multi-digit numerals, solving word problems involving the 4 basic math functions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and division), finding the mode, median, and mean, adding and subtracting decimals, identifying fractions, finding angles in geometric shapes, and managing money such as coins and bills.
Social Studies - locating and identifying the 7 continents and 5 oceans, identifying and comparing the achievements and contributions of ancient civilizations of Mesoptamia, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, respectively.
Life Skills -  trips to local retail stores and restaurants in the community, participating in the Reynolds Cafe, cooperative learning with others in small group instruction, and utilizing self-regulation skills to increase focus on the use of sensory breaks.

Grading Scale
Summative Grades (Tests and Projects) - 50%
Formative Grades - (Quizes, Classwork) - 40% 
Independent Practice - (Homework) - 10% 


Please visit your child’s Powerschool Portal to view ALL upcoming due dates for assessments, projects and homework.

Students will be given 1 WEEK to complete and submit a formative or summative assignment. Teachers will use their discretion about dropping points for late assignments. If not handed in for partial credit after one week, the assignment will receive a Zero.

Assignments that are not submitted on time will have a “0” place holder UNTIL the assignment is completed and submitted. Once a grade is placed, the Zero is removed.
