How to Become a Substitute Teacher

“Want to become a substitute teacher, please follow this checklist.”  

1. Must have a minimum of 60 college credits (completed). 

2. Criminal History Approval for Substitute Teacher

3. Substitute Teacher Credentials from NJEdCert, or Standard, CE/CEAS certification. 

4. Complete HTSD employment Application.

Completing these steps in advance of an interview will ensure a smoother application process.
