Welcome To First Grade!
  • Dear First Grade Families,

Welcome to the world of First Grade! I am looking forward to an exciting year with your child.  There are many interesting things planned such as "100 Book Challenge", writing "All About" and "How To" books, and the ever popular "Light and Sound" unit.

First Graders are naturally hungry for information. Their eagerness, curiosity, imagination, and drive are at an all time high. This allows for a great deal of knowledge to be constructed, resulting in significant development and growth. In First Grade, reading and writing begin to extend and enrich all other curricular areas. Autonomy is encouraged in an effort to promote greater independent risk-taking, problem solving, and learning.

For a more in-depth look into our curriculum you can access information by visiting the District Curriculum Page.

On the first day of school, please take a picture of your child at home and send to my email.

I look forward to meeting you in September!

    Best Regards,
    Ms. Hageman

P.S.-In the meantime, please consider ordering blue light glasses. These glasses protect your children's developing eyes from the harmful blue light that computerstablets, mobile devices and game consoles transmit. A special lens reduces glare and blocks blue light to ease eye discomfort and fatigue that is associated with increased use of electronics. The blue light also is known to cause insomnia. This is merely a suggestion and is not required. It is always suggested to research the different stances on blue light glasses. ( I have a pair!)

You can find these on Amazon.  CLICK HERE FOR GLASSES
