Mr. Pavlov
Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year.
Mr. Pavlov's Spanish Class
cpavlov@htsdnj.org
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
My name is Señor Pavlov. I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade Spanish. 6th and 7th grade are introductory ¨cycle¨ courses, while 8th grade is a full year elective. It is Spanish 1 and starts students on the path to our AP Spanish course. If you have any questions, please don´t hesistate to reach out to me at my email above.
My philosophy
I believe we all can learn and benefit from learning a new language. Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the United States and the United States is also home to more Spanish speakers than any other country except Mexico.
My classroom expectations are simple.
1. Respect (I treat others as I wish to be treated)
2. Honesty (I do my own work)
3. Be on time (I should be in class when the bell rings)
4. Pay attention (I can not learn if I don't pay attention)
5. Ask questions/Make mistakes (I will do both)
6. NO TRANSLATORS (This includes google translate)
Classroom Requirements
1)A folder OR binder OR binder section 2)A pen or pencil 3)A positive attitude
6th and 7th grade are introductory courses. Examples of the topics include greetings, weather, clothing and numbers.
8th grade Spanish 1 is a more in depth study and we will begin the journey of learning to speak the language and talk about ourselves and others.
The grading scale remains in effect;
10% individual practice (These are assignments such as classwork, homework or student practice)
40% formative (These are assignments such as quizzes or short project. They are knowledge "checks")
50% summative (These assignments are "tests." They demonstrate student mastery of material)
ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS;
