    Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year

    I am very excited about beginning our learning journey together!


    • To read and comprehend all genres:  stories, novels, poetry, and nonfiction
    • To understand and use academic vocabulary, isolated vocabulary, 
    • and vocabulary in the context of literature
    • To use grammar correctly to write coherent essays, book reports and projects
    • To speak effectively and coherently when presenting essays/projects
    • To participate in class discussions/group assignments
    • To complete all homework, essays/projects


    Grading Policy: 

    Summative (tests): 50%

    Formative (quizzes): 40%

    Individual Practice (homework): 10%

    Attention Parents/Guardians:

    1. Please visit your child’s Powerschool Portal to view ALL upcoming due dates for assessments, projects and homework.

    1. Students will be given 1 WEEK to complete and submit a formative or summative assignment. Teachers will use their discretion about dropping points for late assignments.  If not handed in for partial credit after one week, the assignment will receive a Zero.

    1. Assignments that are not submitted on time will have a “0” place holder UNTIL the assignment is completed and submitted.  Once a grade is placed, the Zero is removed.
