Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Sophia Lent

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year!

This is my third year at Crockett and my eighth year overall! Most excitingly though, it's my seventh year teaching seventh grade! I taught 6th-grade English my first year here, split time between 6th and 7th last year, and am ecstatic to be fully back to 7th-grade English this year!

This is my second year as the Book Club Advisor - we meet every Wednesday after school until 4:15 pm.
This is also my third year of tutoring middle school English - we will meet every Tuesday from 4 pm until 5 pm and every Thursday during seventh-grade lunch (period 5).

If you'd like to contact me about tutoring for your child, the book club, or any of the 7th-grade assignments, please feel free to send me an email anytime at

This year, the students will be introduced to a variety of texts and topics, and I believe - as both an educator and an avid reader - that having conversations with the children about what they’re reading enhances their learning experience. Listed below are our board-approved novels if you would like to read them to have those valuable conversations! I also recommend using Common Sense Media as a resource or contacting me for guiding questions if you’re unable to read the novels but still want to discuss the topics at home! In addition to our novels, students will also be given short stories, poems, articles, speeches, and academic essays to read.

Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
Tangerine by Edward Bloor
Hiroshima Dreams by Kelly Easton
The Skin I’m In by Sharon G. Flake
